Service Dog Application
Welcome to The Hero Academy's Service Dog Program, where we transform lives through expertly task-trained service dogs. Our dedicated program empowers Veterans, First Responders, and their Families with the invaluable support of highly trained service dogs, provided completely free of charge. To be eligible for this life-changing program, applicants must meet specific criteria:
Diagnosis of PTSD, TBI, MST, or Related Condition: Our service dogs are trained to assist those dealing with PTSD, TBI, MST, or related conditions affecting daily life, offering task-specific support, stability, and companionship.
Honorable Exit from Career: Applicants must have an honorable exit from their military or first responder career, ensuring those transitioning to civilian life receive the support they deserve.
No Ongoing Investigations or Charges: Applicants should have no ongoing investigations or pending criminal charges, prioritizing the safety and well-being of both the applicant and the service dog.
No Active Substance Abuse: To maximize program effectiveness, applicants must commit to their well-being and recovery, free from active substance abuse.
No Violent Crime History: The safety of our service dogs and communities is paramount, making applicants with a history of violent crimes ineligible.
Applications for minors are on a case by case basis.
